Consistent with our mission, the Institute conducts a range of activities and projects at the national, state and local levels. An important part of the Institute's work is to nurture progress by stimulating and developing promising new approaches, working with interested organizations that are in a position to adopt these approaches, and providing advice and assistance for implementation and refinement.
To facilitate effective solutions, the Institute provides expert assistance in a variety of areas, including policy and strategy development, applied research, technical assistance, and convening of roundtable discussions and workshops to harness the insights of experts from different disciplines and perspectives, often in an intensive, interactive environment.
The Institute has also created resource centers that offer expertise and assistance as well as information exchange for entities interested in advancing innovative and promising approaches to health insurance coverage.
The Institute has provided expert advice to the federal executive branch, Congress, governors, other state policymakers, business organizations, worker and consumer groups, foundations, health insurance organizations, advocacy groups and influential expert institutions such as the Institute of Medicine. In addition, IHPS often partners with individuals and organizations whose roles and capabilities complement our own.
As a freestanding not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization, we rely on grants and contracts to support our work.
