Expanding Healthy Families to Cover Parents: Issues and Analyses Related to Employer Coverage

Authors: Ed Neuschler, Rick Curtis, Mark Merlis

January 2001

Policy makers in California (and elsewhere) are increasingly interested in expanding health insurance coverage to currently uninsured working parents, as well as to children. Coverage for uninsured parents is important, both for the parents themselves and because covering entire families makes it more likely that children will be covered and receive the care they need. In addition, families will be protected from financial catastrophe.

This report was made possible by a grant from the California HealthCare Foundation.
